Error when integrating with Visual Studio 2005

    Hi Innovasys team!

I've created simple HelpStudio project (named MyFirstHelp) with two topics. When I run VS Help Integration Integration Wizard, choose my HXS file, check the Flat type radio button on the "Build the TOC" page, add new node, select my help project on the right list box (Exclude from TOC) and click Include button I get the following error:

    Unable to display MyFirstHelp.
Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, Position 1.

I've tried this with HelpStudio Lite and with evaluation version of HelpStudio 3. I'm getting the same error on two computers, one Windows XP and another Windows Vista Business x64.

    What does this error mean?

The Help Integration Wizard is a Microsoft supported tool and isn't something we any direct involvement with, but I believe that it may require the collection file (COL_*.hxc) rather than the .hxs for registration purposes - that is certainly the case for using InnovaHxReg.exe to register Help 2.x titles for integration with Visual Studio.

Take a look in the HelpStudio online help for a full list of the files generated for Help 2.x output - the collection level files are generated specifically for integration with the Visual Studio Help 2.x namespaces so it may well be that it is the COL_*.hxc file that you need to point the Help Integration Wizard at.
