Hello,

I am trying to import a HHP file into HelpStudio (I'm using an evaluation copy to see if HelpStudio can accomplish what we need). When I start the import process, the Topics box is empty.

I've tried clicking "OK" anyway, and it imports a bunch of files (many of which are NOT the files I want). When I attempt to build a CHM file from the result, the file builds, but cannot find any of the topics.

Clearly something is not right here, but I am not sure what it is. Any assistance would be much appreciated, as I'm under a tight deadline for evaluation this tool.

I apologize for any inconvenience this problem has caused you. From your description it certainly sounds as if HelpStudio is unable to find the topics referenced by the .hhp file you are importing. Would you be able to send through a ZIP of the project you are trying to import so that we can investigate?

Perhaps you could make a HHP file that you know imports correctly available to me? Most of the docs I"m working on are internal, and therefore I can't just send them out for something like this.

HelpStudio examines the [FILES] section in your .hhp file in order to identify the .html files that a part of your HTML Help 1.x project. If you aren't seeing your topics listed on the import dialog, it could be that this section of the project file is missing. Some automated HTML Help 1.x generation tools do not correctly populate this section of the project file - perhaps that is the case in your project? If you open up the .hhp file in notepad you shoulde be able to see the files list after a line with just [FILES] on.

If you could send me one of your .hhp files (this file contains no actual content) I can take a look and see if I can see any obvious problems. If you are also able to send a screenshot of what you are seeing on the import dialog, that would help to - you can send that info directly to support@innovasys.com, referencing this posting.

One other thing you could try is to open the .hhp in the Html Help Workshop and see if all your topics are listed there - that will at least confirm that the files are correctly referenced by the project.
