Combining Objects etc. of Projects in the Table of Content of a Multiple Project Documentation

    Hello,

we are documenting a quite complex COM / ActiveX application object model where a root type library references about a dozen type libraries of components. Therefore I was setting up a DocumentX project ("ActiveX Components or Type Libraries") and added a couple of type libraries (TLB). I chose the application as the root project and also set the application object to be the root item in this project.

For the table of content (TOC) I used the "Multiple Projects" default.

What I am getting now is a documentation that has a top level "Overview" page and and top level entries for every TLB added. By the way: the "Overview" page has one of the TLB names in the header but not that of the root project.

Is there a way to customize the TOC such that I have a single "Introduction", "Overview", and "Getting Started" page for all projects followed by top level entries for "Objects", "Enumertions" etc. with all objects of all projects combined in the single "Objects" section?

    I am using DocumentX 5.2.1.3.

    Best regards,

    Bernd

You would need to author the top level "Overview page that covers all the projects" page manually and add it to the ‘Additional Files’ page in the Document! X project editor, and then modify the Table of Contents to include a Table of Contents node for it at the top level. You can't include top level aggregates of every projects objects, enumerations etc. I'm afraid - they would need to be beneath a project overview node.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I'm going to be dealing with a similar situation, needing only one overview, intro, and getting started topic for a product with two .NET projects. I couldn't find the instructions for "Overview page that covers all the projects" in any of the obvious places in the Document! X 2008 help.

How do you do the "covers all projects" Table of Contents?
