Installing HS 2011 compiler on its own?

We are currently using batch scripts to successfully get the latest sources for a HelpStudio project from TFS and compile them via the HS 2011 command line interface. However, we currently do this on a machine which has full HS 2011 installed.

We are in the process of setting up a clean new build server, where we don't want to install any IDEs. In this respect:

    • Is it possible to install only the commandline compiler plus necessary templates on the build machine?
    • If yes: are there instructions of how to do this?

    Thanks

You would need to install HelpStudio using the setup - there are a bunch of assemblies and related components that must be installed in order for HelpStudio to function.

Re: Installing HS 2011 compiler on its own?

Thanks, we would be quite happy to do so but we would need instructions of what exactly is needed.

For comparison: In order to build Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO) projects without installing Visual Studio we had to copy components from an installed version of Visual Studio and register them manually.

We could find documentation for this at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vsto/ff624126.aspx (in fact there are actually batch scripts to gather the required components and add registration entries to start off with, but simple documentation would do).

Is there any similar documentation for HS 2011?

    Thanks

The upshot of my previous reply was that installing HelpStudio in this way is not supported.

Sorry, your wording clearly went into the direction that this can be done if you know how.

Sorry for any confusion caused - this definitely isn't something we support I'm afraid.
