    Multiple Content Files

    Hi,

I've been trying to use multiple content files for one project but it doesn't work out as I'd like it to be.

My project is for .NET assemblies and I added two content files. The text of the content files appear both
merged together in the help file. So if I click on Introduction of the compiled help file I see:

    Text of content file one
    Text of content file two

How can I create a new link  that points to one content file only.
I want to create one content file about how to install the application, one content file for FAQ etc.
I had a look in table of contents editor and I could add a new node in the content tree but I have no idea how link the node with one of my content files. Are there any tutorials around? I checked the documentX help but I couldn't find anything.

    Best regards, Dieter

    Hello,

Document! X Content Files allow you to add content for any of the pages generated by Document! X, but don't allow you to define new pages directly. You can add Additional Files that have been authored manually to the ‘Additional Files’ page in the Document! X project editor, and then modify the Table of Contents to include Nodes for the additional files. You could also add new page layouts and related content types to have these pages available in every project using your custom template.

The traditional Help Authoring capabilities of Document! X are by design limited in order to concentrate on the reference and automation documentation aspects. For a rich Help Authoring environment we offer our HelpStudio product which includes a comprehensive set of functionality for creating additional help content. HelpStudio integrates with Document! X - you include a placeholder on the HelpStudio Table of Contents identifying where you want the Document! X content included and HelpStudio produces a complete help system including both the Document! X content and the topics and glossary you have authored in HelpStudio. In addition, HelpStudio includes the Document! X member tree on it’s hyperlink designer dialog which makes it simple to create links from your HelpStudio content to Document! X generated topics.

Let me know if you need any more information.
