When building the PDF, the output is sent to the printer instead of a PDF document.

When building a PDF document, the output is sent to the printer and HS3 stalls.  After several minutes, HS3 displays a message stating that the application has stalled and inquires if I want to cancel.

Where can I find the setting for HS3 to direct the PDF output to a file instead of to a printer?  I have repaired the installation as well as uninstalling/reinstalling the application to no avail.  I have also created a new help file, added one topic, then attempted to build the PDF.  The output was sent to the printer.

I have the same problem and have for quite some time.  There does not appear to be any solution to the issue, I've contacted Innovasys support in the past regarding this and the best I could get from them was to update to the latest version (which didn't fix it) and to try to reinstall the application (which also didn't fix it).

I can sometimes make it work correctly, but 99.9% of the time it does exactly as you described.  Luckily we are working in a source controlled environment so I can print the PDF's fine from another computer.  If you find a solution please post it here as it would make my life infinitely easier.

I apologize for any inconvenience this problem has caused you.

If you are running Windows 7 then this issue is most likely being caused by Windows location aware printing resetting the default printer during the build process.

We are working on a long term solution to this problem, as a workaround in the meantime you can either disable your network adapter before building a booklet or select the "Always use the same printer as my default printer" option in the Manage Default Printers dialog (you can open this dialog by selecting a printer from Control Panel and clicking the Manage default printers toolbar button).

If you experience any further issues with building booklets can you send a support request through to: support@innovasys.com
